CNG Kit Details and Installation
The CNG kit, developed by Motozen, is a government-approved retrofitment available exclusively for the facelifted version of the Magnite launched in 2024. Priced at ₹74,999, the kit includes a 12-kg single-cylinder tank installed in the boot, designed to minimize space compromise, allowing for two suitcases and two small bags. The suspension system has been adjusted to accommodate the additional weight of the CNG cylinder
Installation will be carried out at authorized Nissan dealerships, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Initially, the CNG kit will be available in seven states: Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka, with plans to expand to other regions in subsequent phases.
Performance and Efficiency
The CNG variant is compatible with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While official fuel efficiency figures are yet to be announced, expectations are set between 18 to 22 km/kg, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional petrol variants.
It’s important to note that the CNG kit is not available for turbocharged models or older versions of the Magnite, as the new facelifted model is E20 compliant and CNG-ready.
Features and Safety
The Magnite CNG retains the features of the facelifted model, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features encompass six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ensuring a secure driving experience.
Market Impact
The introduction of the CNG variant aligns with the growing demand for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles in India. By offering a factory-approved CNG option, Nissan aims to cater to budget-conscious consumers seeking lower running costs without compromising on features and safety.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, stated, “This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing sustainable and economical mobility solutions to our customers.”
Conclusion
The Nissan Magnite CNG variant presents a compelling option for consumers looking for an affordable, feature-rich, and eco-friendly SUV. With its competitive pricing, comprehensive warranty, and adherence to safety standards, the Magnite CNG is poised to strengthen Nissan’s position in the Indian automotive market
